    CRAFTSMAN CMEC6150 Review

    CRAFTSMAN CMEC6150 Review

The CRAFTSMAN CMEC6150 is a new model and is built in Jackson Tennessee using global materials. The portable pancake design 6 gallon tank and 2.6 CFM compressor at a bargain price make the CMEC6150K a top seller in Amazon's "Air Compressor" Category.

Note:  The CMEC6150K includes the CRAFTSMAN CMEC6150 6 gallon air compressor bundled with a 13 piece accessory kit.

The included 13 piece accessory kit contains a 25-foot 1/4" PVC air hose with female quick-coupler, OSHA safety nozzle blow gun, tire gauge, tire chuck, three inflator adapters and three male quick-connect fittings.

In 2020, at the time of this review, the CRAFTSMAN CMEC6150K 6-gallon air compressor kit was selling on Amazon for around $140. This is an excellent value given the quality, performance and features of this unit.

This compressor has plenty of power, 150 PSI maximum air pressure and 2.6 SCFM of air flow at 90 PSI. With the included accessories you have everything you need to inflate all types of items such as tires, inflatable toys and sports balls. There is plenty of power to run air tools such as air powered finish, framing and roof nailers.

The front mounted regulator and twin quick-connect air outlets are useful for switching back and forth between multiple air tools. An upgraded shroud and console cover help protect the internal components and an integrated carry handle combined with a light 30 LB weight make the compressor extremely portable.

The CMEC6150 features a virtually maintenance free pump for long life and ease of use. It's ruggedly built and includes heavy rubberized feet to keep the compressor from walking around during use.

The compressor is backed by a Craftsman 1 year limited warranty and easy to find repair parts.

Quick Tip:  We recommend that you purchase a long air hose for your air compressor. It is better than using an extension cord for several reasons. In addition to ensuring there is no power drop due to the resistance of the long cord, the further you are away from the compressor the quieter it will sound.

    What Can This Compressor Do?

The CMEC6150 air compressor has a 50% duty cycle and 2.6 SCFM @ 90 PSI of air flow with a 150 PSI maximum cutoff pressure. This is sufficient for operating most types of air nailers such as finish, framing and roof nailers. You can also use this compressor for airbrush work, inflating tires and using a blow gun for cleaning. You may also be able to use some smaller air tools such an air ratchet or impact wrench in limited use applications.

    Under Inflated Tires Will?

Under inflated tires are dangerous. Under inflation is a leading cause of premature tire failure. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration many vehicles on the road today are driving with at least one under inflated tire.

Properly inflating your tires can save you as much as 11 cents per gallon on fuel. Yet only 19 percent of consumers properly inflate their tires. That means four out of five consumers are wasting money because of underinflated tires!

In addition to being unsafe, low tire pressure also causes uneven wear on the tire and will cost you extra money by requiring tire replacement prematurely and reducing your vehicle's MPG.

    The Bottom Line

The CRAFTSMAN CMEC6150 is an excellent value for the average user. It offers a lot of bang for the buck. However the CMEC6150 is not the quietest model.
